The village of Sussac has a grocery that
also sells bread, and a post office. In Domps (3 km) is a bar-restaurant.
The nearest supermarket is in Châteauneuf-la-Forêt (10 km). There
are branches of the Crédit Agricole Bank in Châteauneuf-la-Forêt
and Eymoutiers (15 km). Both have electronic banking facilities.
A doctor's practice and a pharmacy can be found in Châteauneuf-la-Forêt
(10 km).
Nearby attractions
Les Saules is situated in
a beautiful landscape full of variation. From
the campsite you can make a fine walk in the woods along the shores of the
river Combade. Beautiful trips can be made in the hilly and wooded surroundings
on foot, by bike or by car. We have discriptions of the official footpaths
for you.

The landscape is dominated by the Mont Gargan, on
the top of which stand the ruins of a chapel. On the Mont Gargan you can enjoy
a beautiful wide sight and the magnificent sunset.

La Cascade des Jarrauds is very worthwhile: it consists of a beautiful series of waterfalls where young and old can stroll, climb and bathe.



In Nedde is an interesting insect
and butterfly museum for children.

In Le Vigen (45 km) is the beautiful Parc
du Reynou, where 600 animals of 130 species live. You will be amazed by
the splendour of the landscaped park and will be charmed by the beauty of
the animal world.

In
Nedde, La Croisille-sur-Brince and Chamberet you can find a centre for riding
horseback.
The Millevaches
Plateau and the Vassivière
Lake with 1000 hectare of watersport facilities are 25 km away.
On the Vassivière Isle is the The
International Center of Art and Landscape with its museum for modern art,
designed by Aldo Rossi.





On the shores of the Vassivière lake, the parc D’ARBRE
EN ARBRE offers lots of exciting ways to get from one tree to another.


In Peyrat-le-Château is
a donkey farm, les
Ânes de Vassivière, which organises donkey-trekking.


Limoges is a large town, some 45 km away, with an old butchers' quarter,
china shops, the Gothic Cathedral, the Musée
national Adrien Dubouché (ceramics, glass, porcelain), the Aquarium
of the Limousin, and the Musée
municipal de l'Evêché with a beautifull collection of enameled
reliquaries and crosses.




Six villages in the Limousin region are classified
as the most beautiful villages in France: Treignac,
Curemonte,
Ségur-le-Château,
Saint-Robert
and Mortemart.
There are numerous towns and villages with interesting Roman churches and
abbeys such as St.
Léonard de Noblat, Eymoutiers,
Lestards
and Solignac.
The attractive town of Uzerche
on the river Vézère is also 45 km away.


There is a diversity of castles and museums such as the Rochechouart
Castle with its famous museum for modern art and the wonderfully furnished
Bonneval
Castle in Coussac-Bonnebal. In the abbey St. André of the charming
little town of Meymac (48 km) you can find a Centre for Modern Art. In Saint
Jean Ligoure (40 km) are the ruins of the Châlucet
Castle. This castle has no entry fee, but guided tours are proposed.






Very worth while is l'Espace
Paul Rebeyrolle in Eymoutiers, a beautiful museum devoted to the French
artist Paul Rebeyrolle.



Very impressive is Oradour: this small town was destroyed by the Nazis and is now a war monument.
